At Potter Street Academy, our mission is to nurture every child’s potential.

We provide a safe, inclusive and inspiring environment where every child, regardless of background or circumstance, is known, valued and given the opportunity to thrive.

Through excellent teaching, enriching experiences and strong relationships with our families and community, we work to remove barriers, raise aspirations and equip our children with the knowledge, confidence, resilience and values they need to succeed.

We want every child to leave Potter Street believing in themselves, excited by what their future might hold and knowing that their background should never determine their destination.

Our Vision

Our vision is for Potter Street Academy to be a school at the heart of its community – a place of hope, opportunity and belonging where children and families know that they matter.

We want every child to experience an education that opens doors: one that combines high expectations and academic success with rich experiences, strong relationships and opportunities to discover who they are and what they can become.

We aspire for our children to grow into confident, compassionate and resilient young people who are curious about the world, proud of themselves and their community, and ready to embrace the opportunities ahead of them.

All PCLC schools have an approach that is based on the following key principles:

 

• Our unconditional positive regard ensures that every young person is highly valued and expected to achieve their potential;
• every young person has the right to be successful and has ability to achieve, no matter what their socio-economic background;
• there is no limit to achievement – intelligence can be developed;
• each student must know what to do in order to improve and how to do it, high expectations on their own are not enough;
• consistency of experience is fundamental; each school is a team and consistency makes us greater than the sum of our parts;
• employment opportunities in PCLC schools should allow all colleagues to inspire a love for learning; not simply process and record what we find.

Trust Board Priorities

To achieve our Vision:

• All schools must create an environment to support students’ growth, including supporting them to have good mental health;
• All schools in the Trust will focus on strategies for improving outcomes for disadvantaged students;
• Leadership across the Trust must define and demonstrate what ‘high expectations’ means within their context and constantly remind the staff and students of the need to set and meet challenging goals to achieve them;
• Financial efficiency is an ongoing factor to ensure the Trust is sustainable and can flourish.
• The Trust will actively pursue ethical and financially efficient expansion.
• All schools in the Trust will focus on developing reading so that all young people completing their education with PCLC will have a reading age that is in line with their chronological age.
