Mind - West Essex

We are delighted to be working in partnership with MIND in West Essex to help support our children’s mental health and wellbeing.

During the Autumn term 2023, Year 4 enjoyed a 10-week ‘Brain Buddies’ program and Year 2 had a Friendship Assembly delivered by MIND.

In addition, Mrs Debi Hunter (Educational Mental Health Practitioner) visited the school, supporting parents on a 1:1 basis, in helping them with children who have anxiety or challenging behaviours.

For Spring term 2024, we are delighted that Debi will continue to visit the school on a Wednesday morning to help support parents on a 1:1 basis. These are made by appointment and referral only for parents with children who suffer with anxiety or display challenging behaviour. Please speak to Ms Amanda Hawkes if you would like book a space to speak to Debi.

We are also members of MINDs Wellbeing Book Club initiative and promote books for parents to read with their children, to help support emotional wellbeing. These are available to look at and read in the Wellbeing Hub after school on a Wednesday. Please feel free to drop-in. No appointment necessary.

The school is also hosting a ‘Time To Talk’ Afternoon Tea (Weds 28th Feb, 2pm onwards & after-school), for parents and children to enjoy a wider range of wellbeing activities together but also to meet Debi and find out more about the range of services MIND has to offer.

If you cannot make this event but would like further information, then please email Ms Amanda Hawkes at admin@potterstreetacademy.com.
